I should probably save these for days I don't take pictures, but they were all taken on the 9th, so I'll share them today...

Isaac is sitting up in a tripod sit! Yey (this is actually from Easter.)Isaac has a new favorite way to hold his pacis.

Isla playing with her lambs & bristle blocks. We have a new deal - I get to dress her every other day. I let her give me some input, but I have final say on my day. It is nice to see the cute coordinating clothes actually together in one outfit, but also nice that she has freedom to dress up as wildly as she likes on "her" day.Isaac is coordinated too!


The best part of Easter?!?! Isaac's BFF, Sam, was born. I was thrilled to meet this handsome little guy on Monday night. He's bigger than Isaac but felt just tiny in my arms...just over 1 day old. I got to hold him for an hour and he slept soundly most of the time and even smiled at me. It was precious. I am really looking forward to Isaac and Sam's adventures.

April 8, 2012The Easter Bunny left picture clues & Isla went on a scavenger hunt to find her basket! Then we went up to her cousin's house for brunch, an egg hunt, and some candy fueled wildness.

#98 Easter Saturday

We celebrated Easter early with a Saturday children's service and brunch with Isaac's God Parents and an egg hunt for Isla and Charlotte. It was a beautiful day. This is a picture of all the children going up on stage to walk through "the tomb." The service was interactive and Isla had a wonderful time waving her butterfly fan and shouting "Halleluiah!" It was really cute and really touching.Here's Isla and Isaac in their Easter finery. I had to take the seems out on Isla's dress because it was so snug and my mom had to alter Ike's shirt because it was so huge. but don't they look adorable!

#97 DOC Band

Isaac's DOC band arrived today and we went & had it fitted. He seems fairly oblivious so far. People have been stopping me everywhere I go to ask about it. They are all very concerned about him. I smile and explain the band, but inside I am thinking, "Really it is 90% cosmetic, and falls a long way down on our list of concerns, way below heart problems, intestinal problems, major surgery, and failure to thrive..." (& speaking of, doesn't he appear to be thriving!)

I have some pictures for this date but they are on Gretchen's camera. They involve two amped up little girls dyeing eggs, tables, concrete and each other, as well as decorating some Gorgeous Easter Bonnets!

Here he is...& your are seeing this 2 days before he actually got this DOC band! (Taken 4-6)
It is very light weight and a tiny bit flexible. Andrew & I are treating it like our 3rd baby. Other than some skin irritation at first Isaac is doing very well.

Here's Ike on 4-6 before getting his helmet. Yes, his head looks so good...from the front.

As an April Fool's joke I lost my camera, so there will not be pictures for the next 4 days...I refuse to feel guilt. I think any objective reader can tell I have a lot going on right now.

We had Isla's God Mama and God Sisters visiting for the day. The girls all had a blast together!

On any given day our kitchen looks like I have a side business dealing coke. We have a gram scale dusted with white powder and white powder dusting the counter. Isaac's formula needs to be measured exactly.

#89 At the Helm

March 29, 2012Isaac is in command again.

Isla is very interested in Isaac's "new" stander. She loves showing him the features. Isaac is enchanted with everything Isla does, and frankly, Isla could care less 75% of the time, wishes Isaac were napping 15% of the time, and loves him right back a Blessed 10% of the time. It is amazing, adorable, and sometimes depressing to watch the power the older sibling holds over the younger sibling.

Luckily in a few years those roles could be reversed - I'm awestruck by my little sister on a regular basis.

#88 Magical Me!

March 28, 2012Is it me or is Isaac a little more comfortable sitting now? He still doesn't straighten his legs At.All. when he is sitting. Standing is not a problem. He loves to stand up. Hopefully that is a normal baby thing...I can't remember with Isla. He's wearing his Best Baby Brother shirt from my friend Theresa and has his magic hat.
PS - True Harry Potter fans should know that title. If this blog was public and I had sponsors I'd make it a contest.

Isaac in his crabby outfit. Actually Isaac has been anything but crabby lately. Needy? Yep, both kids are...but crabby, No!
There isn't much to say about this photo. It was either this, or a close up of a very gross diaper that I'm sharing with the GI. I think we're all glad I chose the cute baby picture.

#86 Wheat Grass Basket

March 26, 2012Isla and my mom planted some wheat berries in a basket when they were here. It seemed to sprout in hours, and I swear you could watch this stuff grow. Here it is less than 2 weeks after planting. (Eventually it grew taller than the handle and then flopped over.)

We set up the stander for Isaac. The Dr's in the NICU told us that these were no longer recommended because they can cause walking issues, but I turned a deaf ear. Isaac loves being upright and is enthralled with the stander. Standers remind me of little command centers. I can just picture God up in the clouds in something similar.

#84 Welcome Home!

March 24, 2012We received these gorgeous flowers from my in-laws. They lasted forever and were such a beautiful color combination I went out and bought towels to match.
PS - These pictures are just generally from this time...getting back into the routine was difficult and I didn't get daily pictures.

March 23, 2012SO happy to be home! His bandages are off and we can give him baths as needed until the steristrips fall off. The incision is exactly 3 inches.

March 22, 2012We went home this afternoon! Isaac is doing fantastic, with just a little Tylenol. We are so blessed to have such wonderful doctors and a state of the art hospital!

#80 Super Sister

Ike's youngest visitor has been a super sister! She has seen far too many hospitals in the past 7 months, but is doing well with the adjustment of having me here and Grandma and Grandpa visiting. We've had picnics at the hospital and visited all the gardens. She also loves to talk to all the nurses. She is freaked out by Isaac's IV and gives it the stink eye whenever she gets to close to Ike.

#79 Happy Camper!

March 19, 2012Someone is feeling SO much better and loves his mobile from his God Mama. We've been swapping toys to hang on it and it is like new every time we put on new toys.

Later...
Ike's NG tube came out yesterday and his monitors and No-no came off today. He is loving the new freedom, but missing holding onto his leads. A well timed package from his Grandparents presented a solution. He plays with the toy when he is awake and holds it when he sleeps.

#77 Happy St. Patrick's Day

March 17, 2012Isaac is a charmer even with all this get up. This is one of the 1st shirts I bought for Ike when I found out I was having a boy. I went to Gymboree and cleaned out their clearance rack. This is not where I thought he'd be wearing it.

Isaac normally sleeps with his hand on his hair. With his no-nos he can't bend his arm, so we gave him his teddy so he can feel something soft. It seems to help - he holds it non-stop.

March 16, 2012Isaac's Lucky Day came 1 day early. His surgery for malrotation went well and he is in the best of care!

March 14, 2012One of the perks of Elecare - eating dairy again. Isaac & I walked to Starbucks while Isla was at preschool and I ordered a nonfat chai latte and madelines!
